Drew’s place receives roughly 25 parental fitness evaluation referrals each year. Dr. Francis provides thorough interviews and reports to individuals with specific diagnoses and recommendations if warranted. Often during parental fitness evaluations, Dr. Francis can provide recommendations that allow for parents to increase visitation and gain custody if recommendations are followed. Dr. Francis has testified in court on behalf of clients to support their ability to establish/increase supervised visitation all the way to being granted custody or gain custody rights of their children when the evidence supports that decision.
The following clinical and forensic evaluations are available at Drew’s Place:
Parental Fitness Evaluation | Parenting Plan Evaluation
formerly known as Child Custody Evaluation
|Diagnostic Clarification | Specific Learning Disabilities | Memory Impairment | Intellectual Disability/Giftedness | ADHD/ADD | Child Custody Evaluation | Autism Spectrum
All clinical and forensic evaluations involve a comprehensive evaluation process completed by a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. The evaluations consist of 3-5 sessions and include the following components:
a) Clinical Interview: The evaluating psychologist will conduct a detailed clinical interview to gather information about past and current symptoms, developmental history, and family medical history.
b) Psychological Testing: Next, you will be administered standardized tests, such as rating scales, measures of mood and personality, memory, intelligence assessments, tests of learning and achievement, etc. Testing will be tailored to your individual symptoms and needed areas of exploration. Testing will take place over the course of 1-2 sessions that can range from 1-hour or longer.
c) Record Review: Review of prior treatment records and/or academic records as well as records the evaluator finds pertinent to the referral. The psychologist may review prior treatment records, or school and academic records, to gather more information about treatment progress or functioning within a school environment. Additionally, forensic evaluations may require review of police reports, Children and Family Services reports, consultation with attorneys, etc.
d) Collateral information: If authorized, the psychologist may gather information from family members, friends, teachers, or other relevant sources to gain a more complete understanding of symptoms and functioning.
e) Feedback Session: The evaluating psychologist will meet to discuss the results and findings of the evaluation. During the feedback session, the psychologist will review the psychological test findings and share observations and interpretations. The psychologist will provide a diagnosis, along with recommendations for future treatment options.
If you believe that you, a loved one, or your client may benefit from diagnostic clarification or would like to gain a better understanding of presenting symptoms, Drew’s Place can offer comprehensive testing to help improve your personal insight and inform your options for treatment.
